Owner's Engineer for Planning Control

Independent schedule control on the owner's side — to verify, challenge and enforce the delivery commitments made by your contractors and suppliers.

A different posture

The schedule, seen from the owner's side, not the contractor's

Most planning resources on a project sit on the contractor or engineering side — with a natural interest in presenting a compliant schedule. As Owner's Engineer, our role is different: verify the consistency of submitted schedules, challenge duration assumptions, and flag the owner as soon as slippage appears, before it becomes contractual.

This independence is what gives the assignment its value: we have no stake in the schedule "looking good," only in it being accurate.

What's covered

  • Critical review of contractor and supplier schedules
  • Verification of contractual milestone consistency
  • Participation in planning coordination meetings
  • Early warning and substantiation when slippage is identified
Common contexts

When an Owner's Engineer assignment makes the difference

No in-house capability

The owner doesn't have the technical capability in-house to challenge schedules submitted by its contractors.

Complex multi-package project

Several contractors work in parallel and their schedules need to be consolidated and checked for overall consistency.

History of dispute

A prior contractual disagreement over delays makes stronger, well-documented schedule control necessary from day one.
